WEEK 14

This week will be the very last week for my semester 6. Today, for FSM4401, we learnt supply chain management (SCM). From that, I get to know that the elements in supply chain can be categorized into upstream and downstream. Orders, information, payments and returns are of upstream while products, services and information are grouped under downstream. Vertical integration is introduced by Dr in class. It has few definition but here, in terms of management and business, it is said as by combining all the suppliers, work can be done effectively. On the other word, it is said to be strategy applied to control all the suppliers, thereby targeted outcome can be achieved easier. Then, we were told that there are total 3 flows in supply chain, known as material flows, information flows and financial flows. These are of the key components as supply chain will not be able to work or function without any of the flow. Our class is continued with the importance of building up a well-s...

We have no lecture class and lab session in UPM this week. Instead, we went to KLCC Convection Centre for GEC (Global Entrepreneurship Community) Summit 2017 . Early in the morning, all of us gathered in front of the parking lot near our faculty. This is only the second field trip that we went on in this semester. Thus, definitely all of us are so eager and excited to attend that! We were told to go and get ourselves register right after we reached KLCC Convention Centre. After receiving briefing from Dr, we straight away went up to the discussion rooms to join the lab session. The one I joined is about E-commerce. Basically, the talk is on how to keep a company, especially the newly formed company to go through series of challenges. The speaker is founder of Rockstart and his name is Oscar Kneppers. He's such a successful entrepreneur and we can know that easily from the way he conducted the lab session. Through his talk, we know that efforts have to be put in to build up...

WEEK 10

Basically, today's tutorial class of FSM4401 is focused on Transaction Processing System (TPS). It is sort of information system used by an enterprise at which data transaction is collected, stored, modified and retrieved. TPS consists of three parts, including inputs, processes and outputs. One of the examples under inputs which all of us are familiar to is data storage. It acts as base of an enterprise's system. TPS is mainly used to measure performance, provide reliability and ensure consistency in our works. During the lab session, the comments we got back from lecturer is quite good. I myself think that this is such a good opportunity for us to gain new knowledge as without this assignment, perhaps I will never get a chance to participate in websites designing. And through this coursework also, we learnt to communicate with others (restaurant owner etc), sort of small business meeting. However, changes and modification still have to be made to improve our work. Apart f...

Our FSM4401 class is on every Wednesday from 10-12pm (tutorial) and 2-5pm (lab). While there was some exception for this week class, as our class had been replaced by websites presentation, CIP-UPM , which means that we had whole day presentation the past Wednesday. The presentation was conducted in one of the meeting rooms at Food 5. It was a brand new experience for us since that was the first time we gave presentation in such meeting room (presentation is usually conducted in classroom ). Everything was fine. Each group was given one hour time to setup, present with Q&A session. During the presentation, we talked on SWOT analysis of WaffleWaffle! At Bkt Serdang and also had an brief explanation on the websites we designed for them. I was the one who start the presentation on that day. A bit regret to say that I was not so in condition while our group was presenting. Kind of blur. Anyhow, it is done and let's improve next time. I have a bunch of lovely teammates. F...

During the lecture class in Week 7, we were exposed to a new word, 'ARPANET'. So, what is the exact definition of 'ARPANET'? Basically, it is defined as the network which serves as basis for Internet. Back in 1967, the first concept derived had kick-started the development of 'ARPANET' under the direction of U.S. Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA). And with the initial purpose of providing convenience for users t o communicate with and share computer resources, it was then upgraded to higher level from time to time.   Next, E-commerce which is the trend nowadays had been introduced in class too. The most common E-commerce examples that we encounter in our daily life include Amazon, eBay and so on. With these, shopping without stepping out of our house is no longer a dream. (But frankly speaking, we are so into online shopping :)) As usual, we had a short reporting session on our CIP Progress in lab hours. For our group, we had done the website dr...

WEEK 6

I tend to update my blog by the end of each week. And the main reason to do so is because this blog is not just to jot what I learnt in FSM4401 every week, it helps to record my semester 6 life in UPM too. This week is a fruitful week. As usual, we were exposed to new stuffs in class. We were taught on Netiquette and Etiquette in technology. Then, apps and software on photo editing were introduced, as well as tips on creating websites were given, including ethics of information technology (always the important thing to be emphasized on). Week 6 is also known as Test 1 week. And Test 1 indicates that I have to burn more midnight oil, which means sleep less. So basically, I only get to sleep 3 to 5 hours per day. That's really suffer. Anyway, Test 1 is now over, so I get good sleep. With that, it summarized my weekdays in Week 6 :)) Here comes the best part of this week. I went to a concert yesterday (Saturday) in Stadium Merdeka and that's the thing that I always wa...
